Harris Broadcast & Communications

Enhanced Radio, DTV and Mobile TV Audio Broadcast

Since 2003, Harris Broadcast Communications and Neural Audio are partnering to develop and market technologies that enhance the quality of audio content through broadcast for radio, DTV and Mobile TV applications. The companies have jointly developed the NeuStar™ Codec Pre-Conditioning technology used to increase audio codec performance and audio quality in FM and HD Radio™ broadcasts. The companies have also worked in developing and marketing broadcast-ready solutions for stereo-surround interoperability, using the Neural-THX® Surround technology, and volume management, using the Neural Loudness Control technology.

More recently, the two companies worked with VoiceAge Corporation and Zenith/LG Electronics to develop the lowest audio bit rate broadcast solution for mobile TV applications. Called MPH™, the system uses Neural-AMR-WB+ as its main audio coding layer and Neural-THX Surround as its surround audio enhancement layer.
