The Company
Neural Audio Corporation is a privately owned company headquartered in Kirkland, Washington. The company was founded in 2000 by Paul Hubert, an accomplished mastering engineer, and Robert Reams, a scientist with a track record of 30 years of audio innovations.
In the mid-1990s, Mr. Hubert was working on digital sound libraries for major record labels in a converted garage in Seattle. His partner, Robert Reams, was building DSP-based digital recording tools designed to emulate the sound of famous high-end analog recording equipment.
In 1997 when they heard their work from a major release played back on an early version of MP3, they were shocked and saddened to find that MP3 data compression had stripped all the detail and warmth of the analog sound that they had worked so hard to create. Their new common goal? Finding a way to protect an artist's or producer's artistic intent against data compression. The idea for codec conditioning was born!
Almost a decade later, the company has grown into a leading audio technology and solutions provider in multiple markets, including DTV, radio, consumer electronics and game. Our partners and customers include THX Ltd., XM Satellite Radio, DaySequerra, Harris Corporation, Yamaha Corporation, Sony Corporation, Pioneer Electronics, Onkyo Corporation, Denon Electronics and Marantz America.
