NEURAL AUDIO AND JAZZSET WITH DEE DEE BRIDGEWATER FROM NPR JOIN TO PRESENT 26
WEEKLY JAZZ-IN-PERFORMANCE PROGRAMS IN NEURAL-THX SURROUND SOUND
October 2, 2008 -- Beginning in February, 2009, 26 consecutive weeks of the award-winning NPR series JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater will be produced for air in Neural-THX™ Surround Sound.
Listeners equipped with home and auto radio receivers will be able to enjoy recent performances by top-tier jazz musicians
- instrumentalists and vocalists - in six channels of Surround Sound.
Produced by WBGO/Jazz 88.3FM in Newark, NJ, and airing on 105 NPR Member stations every week, JazzSet is public radio listeners'
choice for "live" music from concerts, clubs and festivals across the country and beyond. The 2009 JazzSet-in-Surround season will include shows from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC; from Jazz Standard
- named New York magazine's #1 jazz club; and festivals from Tanglewood in the Berkshires to Monterey on the Pacific coast.
Since Spring, 2008, JazzSet has broadcast select programs in Surround Sound, including host Dee Dee Bridgewater in concert with her trio and musicians from West Africa at the Kennedy Center.
"JazzSet continues to provide the best experience possible for their listeners
across the country," said Geir Skaaden, CEO, Neural Audio. "We are very proud to
be a part of this 26-event series and excited to deliver a new level of
envelopment for Jazz music on the Radio."
JazzSet Technical Director and recording engineer Duke Markos says, "We strive to put our audience in the best seat in the house every week. It's a quantum leap from stereo to surround sound. Neural technology will allow our listeners to get even closer to the live performance on JazzSet."
Prior to the new extended partnership with JazzSet, Neural Audio has underwritten Surround Sound broadcasting of live music on the annual New Year’s Eve special, Toast of the Nation from NPR, co-produced by WBGO.
