NEURAL AUDIO HONORS THREE SURROUND SOUND PIONEERS WITH THE “BROADCAST BRAIN”
AWARD
Kirkland, Wash., June 19, 2007 — Neural Audio Corporation, the market leader in
developing advanced audio and surround sound technologies, presented its 2007
“Broadcast Brain” Award to pioneers of the surround sound industry recently.
This year’s three recipients were: Fred Aldous, Sr., FOX Sports audio mixer;
James Paluzzi, Colorado Public Radio (CPR) vice president for new media and
technology; and accepting for THX Ltd, Rick Dean, vice president of technology
development.
“Neural Audio wanted to recognize all three recipients for their leadership and
professionalism in delivering the best surround sound to the consumer in their
respective fields,” said Mark Seigle, Neural Audio president and COO. “National
audiences and worldwide consumers demand a great audio experience whether its
television radio or mobile. And with our latest Broadcast Brain recipients, that
demand is being met and exceeded.”
Fred Aldous is senior audio mixer and audio consultant for FOX Sports, as well
as an audio consultant to Turner Sports. Aldous has previously also worked with
CBS, ABC, NBC, HBO, Showtime and ESPN. His credits include: Wimbledon tennis,
the Olympic Games, the Goodwill Games, as well as numerous NBA All Star games,
MLB World Series, NFL Super Bowls and Daytona 500 races, and is a multiple Emmy
award winner. Aldous’ expertise with live event mixing has helped drive
innovation in the field of sports broadcasting.
James Paluzzi recently led the integration and deployment of the Neural-THX®
Surround Sound Library of original classical surround tracks for the Classical
Public Radio Network’s (CPRN) 62 stations across the United States. Paluzzi
supervises information technology systems, including computers, web application
services, and new technologies for CPRN and Colorado Public Radio. Paluzzi is
also the former general manager for Boise State Public Radio, where he was a
professor of applied technology. He currently serves on the NPR (National Public
Radio) Multicast Receiver Team and the National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC).
A Neural Brain Award was also presented to Rick Dean, THX vice president of
technology development. With more than 20 years of experience in the motion
picture industry, Rick Dean has guided the strategic development of new THX
technologies and certification programs. Dean has worked on numerous
groundbreaking entertainment projects, including the DVD and D-cinema releases
of Star Wars Episodes I, II and III. He served as technical director for the
post-production of the Star Wars Trilogy DVDs, a project that set a new standard
for sound and picture excellence in the DVD format. Dean is a current governor
for SMPTE in Hollywood.
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2007, THX and Neural Audio announced a
joint technology development and marketing partnership that is committed to
developing next generation Neural-THX Surround products for CE devices,
broadcasters, video game developers and emerging content distribution channels
to deliver true, multichannel surround sound presentations using existing stereo
channels.
